City Manager Report and Discussion

Wal-Mart - The groundbreaking is at 9 a.m. Friday, May 23. There will be a press release issued and some refreshments.

David Bunker gave an update on the Cottonwood Well. The City sent a letter to Henkle Engineering stating the well is unacceptable due to plumb and alignment. Henkle is remobilizing to drill a new hole 50 feet to the north. The old hole will be filled with grout. There will be a preconstruction meeting next week. They do not want to do a pilot hole. The City stated that it still wants geophysical logging, but they can drill the well in one pass. There will be additional engineering costs of $25,000 - $35,000 because Bowen & Collins will be supervising the drilling of this new well. Henkle is bringing in a bigger rig. The rig will be here on May 29.

There is a groundwater issue in Juniper Heights that affects several homeowners. Bowen & Collins submitted a proposal to investigate the issue for $23,500. It is unclear whether the City is responsible to investigate and/or solve the issue. C. Wright suggested that Eric Johnson look into the issue to determine the City’s liability. C. Kirk said he would like to see some additional bids.

This meeting was adjourned at 7:03 p.m. by Mayor McGee.
